Vienna Sand Art

Vienna Sand Art

“Sounds in the Sand” – tourism advertising of the City of Vienna in Barcelona.
On Barcelona’s beach, WienTourismus courted visitors for the Austrian capital with the motto “Ara o mai” (“Now or never “).

Sculptures made of 200 tonnes of sand and with a height of six metres show the Philharmonic Orchestra against the backdrop of Schönbrunn Palace.

Due to the great success of this event, the Vienna Tourist Board decided to organise another sand sculpture event the following year.

Lighthouse projects in event marketing

Lighthouse projects in event marketing

Take this term literally and put your event in the right light in the truest sense of the word. A lighthouse completely made of sand, with an integrated light installation that shines every minute, achieves a real signal effect. See our two examples of this idea at different locations:

Tempelhof Harbour in Berlin

For the “Neptune Festival” in the port of Berlin-Tempelhof, we set a new landmark in front of the gates of the shopping center there. Our lighthouse perfectly fitted into the scenery of the listed architecture of the old inland port on the Teltow Canal. The sand sculpture once again emphasized the historic origins of the neighborhood.

Wyk auf Föhr – A lighthouse for the anniversary

As a highlight of the festival week “100 Years Wyk on Föhr” the city finally got its own lighthouse – as a 6 m high sand sculpture. From this stately height, the integrated beacon illuminated the promenade in an unfamiliar light. Tourists and residents were thrilled!

Convince yourself of the radiance:

Within the framework of the internationally-renowned fine watchmaking fair in Geneva, Baume&Mercier invited 700 guests to an evening gala in a Hamptons-style beach atmosphere: with 300 m2 of beach, 800 m2 of lawn, an enormous wooden deck and a completely-furnished Hampton house. A particular eye-catcher for the guests and highly commended by Gwyneth Paltrow: our sand sculpture as a perfect replica of the new watch model “Capeland”.

The Event

A gigantic, over 8 m high fantasy castle made of 600 tonnes of sand towered over the scene. At its feet was the spectacular eye-catcher: a dragon that emitted real smoke!

This event attracted around 300,000 visitors during its 8-week run and received worldwide media coverage.

Sand sculpture workshop: Like the greats

Like the greats

In the middle of the event area, where our artists erected their large sand sculptures in a Zurich shopping centre, all the young talents had the opportunity to create their own small works – lovingly supervised and guided by Antti, who, coming from an international family, spent part of his childhood in Zurich himself and therefore had a great connection to the kids.

Ab in die Mitte!

“Ab in die Mitte” (‘Off to the centre’)

City marketing campaign in Gelsenkirchen

Three sand sculptures represent buildings in the city and are surrounded by a city beach that conveys holiday flair directly in front of the railway station. This city offensive is sponsored in a public-private partnership by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, local authorities, associations and companies. Gelsenkirchen is one of the 2007 award winners with this campaign under the motto ‘In the centre of life – space for potential’.
