TV Child Reporter

The programme of our five-city tour for the tour operator Schauinsland-Reisen included workshops at every location. A particularly exciting event – for us – was a visit from the “Child Reporter” TV team. As well as guiding the super-motivated and talented junior carvers, we also had a large number of intelligent questions to answer on camera.

Charles Dickens

“A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens

as told in sand sculptures.

The special feature of this event: The four sculptures were completed over a period of four weeks: The technical preparations were carried out on Sundays “behind closed doors”. During the week, customers could see for themselves how our artists created scenes from the popular film. A four-week live act!

You can find more examples of Christmas sand sculptures here.

Sealife

Sealife

“Finding Nemo” – “Sponge Bob” – Captain Jack Sparrow and his pirate ship, Black Pearl, from “Pirates of the Caribbean “: Cinematic favourites depicted in sand assembled in ten scenes in the shopping centre. Pure enthusiasm among young and old.

A particularly remarkable fact: despite the impressive overall quantity of sand, 50 tonnes, seven of the sculptures fall into our “lightweight” category: sculptures in this class apply no more than 500 kg/m2 pressure to the floor and, in these dimensions, can be executed in every shopping centre.

FIFA World Cup

FIFA World Cup in Brazil

As the 2014 World Cup was being played out, we created this sand sculpture scene in a shopping centre in Switzerland’s Romandie. It shows the international stars Neymar and Messi as well as the Swiss national player Shaquiri, surrounded by World Cup symbols and Brazilian motifs. A particular favorite among visitors was the armadillo in the foreground. And although the Swiss team was knocked out at an early stage, visitor enthusiasm remained unabated.

True-to-life replica of the “New Beetle” from Volkswagen on a scale of 1:1. To launch the new model in 2013, the AUTOSTADT in Wolfsburg commissioned us to build this sand sculpture. 27 tonnes of sand and a week of artistic work went into reproducing the popular successor to the original Type 1 “Bug” in front of the watchful eyes of the visitors.

MusikFilmFestival

Festival promotion

“Arena Viena” (Viena with a single N being the Catalan name for Vienna)
– a presentation of the Vienna music and film festival in Barcelona, executed for WienTourismus, Vienna’s tourism office.

Sculptures made of 200 tonnes of sand with a height of six meters showed Vienna’s Town Hall and, in front, as a special effect, two muses framing an LED screen for film presentations. Visitors were able to relax in deckchairs and listen to classical music. The event closed on a completely different note: Big-name DJs rocked the beach and the whole of Barcelona danced the night away.

As in the previous year, this event attracted significantly more visitors from Barcelona to Vienna.
