The “Ruhr Ding” series of events, which will be present at various locations in the Ruhr region, is dedicated to the topic of climate this year.
And we from sandcity are on board: with a sand sculpture directly on the shore of the idyllic Silbersee II in Haltern (Design by Mariechen Danz & Kerstin Brätsch). After the project could not take place last year due to corona, we are even more pleased to be able to realize it now in 2021.
On the photo you can see what our artist Martijn has already created from the 66 tons of sand in just one creative working day. However, it will take some time until the sculpture with a height of up to 3.5 m is completed: the “carving”, as the process is called in the language of sand sculpture artists, will be finished on the first of May, the opening is scheduled for 8.5.2021.
For those interested in the preliminary work for such a large sand sculpture, we recommend a look at the chapter Execution.
